Tab Ramos playing his last regular season game in front of a home crowd, sent a perfectly timed ball to Clint Mathis, near his left. Nick Rimando turned Mathis's blistering volley away with a spectacular sprawling save to keep the MetroStars off the scoreboard...

MetroStars goalkeeper Tim Howard was tested in the second half, stepping up to make a clutch save in the 66th minute to keep the MetroStars in the game. In the 85th minute, Mathis sent a long pass into space for Rodrigo Faria. Carrying the ball to the trop of the box, Faria ripped off a dangerous shot that drifted just inches wide of the far post, as the MetroStars failed to tie the game...
