2012.07.15 Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ
Attended our first Red Bull game of the season...Looking forward to seeing Sebastien Le Toux, recently acquired from the Whitecaps, starting up top with Kenny Cooper. Le Toux played an aggressive game, constantly on the move. When Cooper took a blistering shot 30-yard shot that Sounders keeper Bryan Meredith knocked away, Le Toux was moving into it's path, easily put the ball past Meredith to tie the game at 1-1.
The Sounders took the lead in the 16th minute, when Alvaro Fernandez struck a left-footed volley into the far corner past new Red Bull keeper Bill Gaudette. Gaudette was making his first start for Red Bull, coming from the LA Galaxy.
Red Bull took a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute when Joel Lindpere got past Jeff Parke to drive a low shot inside the right post past Meredith. The local paper wrote Lindpere put a move on Parke, from our seats it looked like Lindpere's move was looking for the offsides flag. Mike turned to me and said the only person who thought Lindpere was on side was the AR.
The Sounders would tie the game on a beautiful play, as Brad Evans sent a low cross that was redirected into the net by Freddy Montero...
It was HOT, but a good afternoon at the park... Would have like to see Ryan Meara play, but he was resting from an injury. Not disappointed with Bill Gaudette's first effort. We will miss Dane Richards and wish him luck...
