Gene Chyzowych - Congratulations

The Star Ledger Thursday September 5, 2013, written by Jason Bernstein and photo credit Steve Hockenstein, published a nice article on Coach Gene Chyzowych of Columbia High School, Maplewood, NJ who is retiring at the end of the season after his 50th season of coaching. Chyzowych has brought 4 NJ State Championships and 13 Essex County Championships and 757 wins for the Columbia Cougars entering the season...

Chyzowych has coached the US National Team in 1973 earning a 3-2-0 record. Along with his brother Walter (US National Team coach 1976-1980) are credited as pioneers of soccer's grassroots programs in the US...

Chzowych also coached the New York Apollo of the American Soccer League, as well as the Ukrainian nationals in Philadelphia...

The movie Gracie (2007), is based on the story of Elisabeth Shue's days of playing for on a boys soccer team under the guidance of Coach Chyzowych at Columbia High School....
