Cereal boxes

After Post Cereals issued cereal boxes with Alex Morgan and Omar Gonzalez, I decided to do some research on older cereal boxes that may have been issued:
1994 Kellogg's Raisin Bran - MLS Soccer Slam

1997 Kellogg's Raisin Bran
Marco Etcheverry (DC United) - - Carlos Valderrama (Tampa Bay Mutiny)

1996 Kellogg's - Alexi Lalas (KC Wizards) and Tab Ramos (MetroStars)
sold on ebay for $10.00

In 1996 Kellogg's featured several players for the inaugural season and continued to do so over several years. In 2002 Kellogg launched a special edition of it's Frosted Flakes cereal featuring the Kansas City Wizards following their 2000 MLS Cup Championship and the San Jose Earthquakes following their 2001 MLS Cup championship..

In 1999 Wheaties, famous for all of the athletes they feature on their boxes joined the women's soccer craze honoring members of the US Women's National team following the US Women's World Cup held in the US in 1999

2004 Taylor Twellman - Waffle Crisp

In 2004 Post issued 4 boxes featuring Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution), Landon Donovan (San Jose Earthquakes), Chris Armas (Chicago Fire) and Freddy Adu (DC United) on boxes of Alpha-bits, Waffle Crisp, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles, Honeycomb, Strawberry Blast Honeycomb, Oreo O's, Golden Crisp and Marshmallow Alpha-bits. Each box offered a free footbag (hacky sack) with the MLS logo.  Post is a product of Kraft foods, which became an official sponsor of the MLS in 2004.

2012 Quaker's Life cereal box featured Chicago Fire's Austin Berry. As sponsor of the Chicago Fire Quaker took it upon themselves to help promote Berry as the selection for 2012 MLS Rookie of the Year, which he was awarded...

1999 Quaker - US Soccer Golden Goals, featuring the 1999 US Women's World Championship team.

1989 Kellogg's Sports Holograms

1989 - Kellogg's Frosted Flakes featured a hologram image of Tony Tiger playing one of four sports -  soccer, baseball, bowling and basketball.
The back of the box showed the four sports in the normal cartoon version, which also served as a frame for the hologram.

2012 Olympics - Kellogg's

Kellogg's Frosted Flakes back panel featuring 8 US Olympian cards. The cards use the theme "From Great Starts Come Great Things". The card backs tell how each of these athletes got their start. The cards measure about 2.25 x 2.75 inches..
The Juan Agudelo - USMNT - the back of the card  gives Agudelo's start as "Soccer was all I grew up around. Everyone in Colombia had so much passion for it and it was all I would do after school for five or six hours. I came to the United States when I was eight and started getting serious about soccer at eleven."

It is a shame the US Men's National Team did not qualify for the 2012 Olympics. I understand the choice of Agudelo as an up and coming talent, but there are so many others from the women's team who are going and from the men's team who have participated in past olympics...

The athletes featured are Dwight Phillips - track & field, Summer Sanders - swimming, Jordyn Wieber - gumnastics, Kerri Walsh -volleyball, Michael Landers - table tennis, Rebecca Soni - swimming and Casey Tibbs - Paralympic track...

Mia Hamm - player cards

2007 Topps introduced the Allen & Ginter set of baseball cards which featured stars from "on and off the baseball field". The card design mimics the Allen & Ginter cards produced in the 1800s, which also featured many non-baseball cards. The framed autograph cards were produced on cards that were the original small sized Allen & Ginter cards framed to the standard 2.5 x 3.5 card size.
A few of the cards in this set featured soccer players, most notably Mia Hamm, in both the base card and framed autograph. The back of the base card reads:
Soccer Champion (card #272) - Mia has been the face of the explosive growth of American girls' and women's soccer over the pat two decades and one of the most recognizable stars in sports.
The talented striker led North Carolina to four NCAA titles, became in 1991 the youngest player (19) to win a FIFA Women's World cup crown, led the US to gold in the 2004 Summer Games and broke the international career record for goals.
